Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography is an abstract style of shooting that has no rules – it all comes down to moving your camera over a long exposure. This type of photography brings out the expressionist painter in me; instead of taking literal pictures with my camera, I am painting with it, and the sensor is my canvas. I enjoy ICM "painting" in the autumn because the shapes and colors of the foliage are vibrant and warm in the right weather conditions. While most landscape photography is often shot during the golden and blue hours, ICM images can be made even when the sun is high and bright at mid-day. The finished images are fun and eye-catching. They remind me of the tree's movement on windy Autumn days. I chose this photograph for the gallery because of its representation of Autumn colors but also for the harmony of the gentle white arcs in the image. They remind me of birds. The expression of movement in the image generates energy but also a sense of calm.
