Between the Dark and the Light
The oldest photographic form, black and white photography presents an image where all the color has been removed and consists of only shades - grey tones that range from pure white to absolute black. This allows the emphasis to be placed on shapes, forms and lines, brightness and shadows, textures and structures. Negative space figures heavily in Ken's black and white work and he incorporates it to help build the dreamscape inherent in monochromatic images. Ken loves making black and white photography. It's a totally different mental process than his other work and adds to the enjoyment of making his photographic art. Like all of Ken's photographic images, works here are conceptualized to be printed in large format.
